Tropical Islands in Germany

Located in Germany, about 60 km south-southeast of Berlin, Tropical Islands stretches across an area of 66,000 m², the size of eight football fields. It has perfect temperatures of 26 °C and is home to the world’s biggest indoor rainforest, Europe’s largest tropical sauna and spa complex, a Tropical Sea with a 200 meter-long sandy beach and many other exciting attractions. And best of all, it’s open all year round, 24 hours a day! The roof stands 350 feet (107 meters) tall and it stands without any supporting pillars.

he pool can accommodate up to 8,000 visitors a day. There are restaurants, shopping, tanning, stage entertainment, daycare facilities, bars and overnight camping on Paradise beach. Water from the pools is reclaimed to water the plant life, which grows in a rich, custom-made soil made up of sand, organic waste, clay, and tree bark.

he dome’s transparent panels are also UV permeable, exposing the plants to natural sunlight and allowing the building to operate as a giant greenhouse.

At times the high humidity causes water condensation to collect on the inside of the dome before finally falling. This produces light, spontaneous rain showers on occasion, adding to the tropicality of the airplane hangar.
